Double Exposure Blackjack

Double Exposure Blackjack is a great variation on the classic game, and the Microgaming version offered at Mummys Gold is the best you’ll find online. The game has the same basic principles as the original, with a few intriguing differences. The main difference is that the Double Exposure in the title refers to both Dealer cards being exposed so that players can see them. This brings about a few other changes for the way the game plays out.

Get to Grips with Double Exposure Blackjack

As in all Blackjack games, in Double Exposure you and the Dealer will both get a hand of 2 cards and you’ll need to make your next move based on the cards that you can see. Just as with Classic Blackjack games, your objective is to reach a hand total of 21 without going any higher and to beat the Dealer’s hand at the same time. Face cards are worth 0, number cards are worth their displayed value and aces are worth 11 or 1 depending on what would work best with the rest of your hand. At the end of the round when all cards are revealed, you are paid out 1:1 if your hand is greater than the Dealer’s but equal to or below 21, or if your hand is below 21 and the Dealer’s is above.

Double Exposure Variations

Being able to see both Dealer cards may, of course, influence the moves you decide to make in. There are other key differences between this game and Classic Blackjack, including the fact that you are paid even money rather than a 3:2 return if you get Blackjack. In 8 standard decks of cards are used, and you can Double Down on any hand with a total of 9, 10 or 11. You can also Double Down after Splitting. Rules for Splitting, by contrast, are exactly the same as in Classic Blackjack; you can Split equal-valued cards. The Dealer always Hits a soft 17, and wins all ties except a Blackjack tie which goes to the Player.

Watching When to Double Down

One of the biggest strategy considerations in is deciding when to Double Down. With the limitations that the game puts on this move, it’s not always the best strategy and should only be done in the following circumstances:If you hold an 11 card total and the Dealer holds a 4-9 or 12-15 totalIf you hold a 10 and the Dealer holds 10-8 or 12-15If you hold a 9 and the Dealer shows 4-8 or12-15
