Iron Man’s Superhero Playlist
One of the most popular and formidable superheroes around, Iron Man’s powers come from his special suit of metallic armour and other brilliant technologies conceived by Tony Stark, his alter ego. A genius engineer, charming playboy and billionaire owner of a tech conglomerate, Tony/Iron Man loves the spotlight, and of course, being the hero.
But what does he listen to when it comes to music? You know, like when he’s enjoying some downtime, or about to hit the town…or even when he’s getting ready for battle. We know, you probably haven’t really thought about it, because you know, you’ve got a life – but that’s where we come in, because we’ve thought about it long and hard (okay, maybe not that long and hard) and came up with a possible playlist that Iron Man might just appreciate. Here’s his Top 5!
Dressed for Success by Roxette
Let’s start with this blast from the 80s past. Iron Man loves the lights, camera, and action lifestyle of the celebrity superhero, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this track is one of his faves. Plus, he loves a good suit, whether it’s his powerful, metallic suit of armour when he is in Iron Man mode, or the dapper suits he wears when he’s Tony Stark – billionaire philanthropist and flirtatious playboy. Let’s face it, no-one loves a good success story quite like Iron Man, especially when it’s his own.
The Final Countdown by Europe
When Tony dons his Iron Man suit and gets ready for battle, this classic one hit wonder by 80s rock band Europe is definitely one of his go-to songs. Its over the top lyrics and cheesy, repetitive keyboard line make it one of the most annoyingly overplayed songs ever, especially at New Year’s parties. But the fact that it’s so annoying is exactly why Iron Man loves it – after all, no-one throws a New Year’s bash quite like him, and no-one loves getting ready for battle quite like him either: to get himself all pumped up and ready to go, this is his song of choice.
Cold War by Janelle Monae
When Iron Man/Tony Stark gets serious and wants to focus on the task at hand, Janelle Monae’s powerful Cold War is the song that does the trick. After all, Iron Man isn’t all about the spotlight, he’s a certified genius who thinks about big important things like war, peace, politics, and the role of technology. Plus, he burst onto the comic book scene in the 1960s when the Cold War between the Western powers and the Soviet bloc first started heating up, so we think the nod to that in the title is pretty cool, and we think Iron Man would too.

What a Man by Salt N Pepa featuring En Vogue
Iron Man is a limelight seeker, with a sense of style and a penchant for the dramatic. Let’s face it, he is a bit of a narcissist, but his super-sized ego and dry sense of humour are just some of the reasons we all love him. He loves playing this number especially when he’s looking at himself in the mirror – not because he needs validation, but because he is genuinely thinking, “What a Man!”
Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars
This hit song has loads of swag, and few superheroes embody swag quite like Iron Man. And boy, does he know it. Definitely a favourite of his, especially when he feels like getting funky and hitting the dance floor, even if the dance floor is in his own bedroom. A song with oodles of charisma and punchy rhythm, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this is so high up on Iron Man’s list of favourites.
