Adele’s Lips Are Sealed Over Divorce
Fans know and love her music, but the singer’s privacy preferences drive several of the more curious celeb watchers wild. Much like people always want to know who wins big playing slots like Mega Moolah, it seems like we all want to know what goes on behind our favourite singer’s closed doors. But in Adele’s case, we are out of luck. A judge has found in favour of Adele’s wishes to keep the details of her divorce from Simon Konecki secret, and the particulars of the split will never be made public.
The 31-year old crooner and her charity Chief Executive Officer husband Simon Konecki publicly announced that they had split a year ago and a judge has ruled that they’ll be able to work out the financial details of their divorce privately. An American court has agreed that what happens to the superstar singer’s £140 million should remain between them.
Where It All Began
Konecki, 45, met his future wife in 2011, at the height of her explosion onto the music scene, but details on how they hooked up are as thin on the ground as their split particulars are going to be. Rumour has it that Ed Sheeran introduced them when Adele was recuperating from throat surgery in 2011, but Sheeran took to Twitter to set things straight.
He said that, despite what certain papers were saying, he had nothing to do with Adele and Simon’s partnering up, adding that he would dearly like to know where that piece of hearsay originated from.
They were first pictured together early on in 2012 as they tried to catch a glimpse of alligators in Florida. Simon’s parents both live in Boca Raton, a city on the state’s south-eastern coast.
Konecki is a native New Yorker who moved to London when he was 10-years old. He worked as an EBS Director before managing teams of senior brokers at Lehman Brothers, the global financial services firm that filed for bankruptcy in 2008. He gave up the high-flying lifestyle to become CEO of a charity, co-founding a company called Life Water. It is an ecologically friendly brand of bottled water in the United Kingdom, and he is also involved in Drop4Drop, a non-profit organisation which works at getting clean water into poor countries.
He was married before, and the rumour mill went into overdrive in 2012 regarding the role Adele played in his last split. It got to the point where she composed a blog on her site pointing out that Konecki had been divorced for four years by the time she met him.
No Prenup for the Pair
Media reports indicate that Adele and Konecki called the whole thing off in April 2019 and it is widely understood that no prenuptial agreement was signed before they got married in 2016. Sources close to the former couple pointed out that divorces in Hollywood can drag on for years and get very ugly and they very clearly don’t want to become another Brangelina, who’s split stretched out for the length of Adele’s entire marriage!
Both have been open about amicably parenting their son Angelo together, and this is the most likely reason they are keeping all the ugly details away from the public eye.
What Lies Ahead
Since they split, the Hello singer allegedly went on a few dates with Skepta, the British MC, rapper, record producer, and songwriter from Tottenham in North London. Although she introduced him to her friends and is said to have enjoyed a bit of a fling with the fellow musician, she’s apparently a single lady once more.
Adele and Konecki filed for divorce in Los Angeles, in the USA, citing irreconcilable differences in September of last year, but reports indicate that she has bought a house close to him in that city in deference to their commitment to co-parenting and sharing custody of little Angelo.
She has apparently been talking about how difficult things have been lately to those closest to her, and fans will know that she has previously stated that the way she deals with emotional upsets is by creating new music. Her job is her therapy and she might be ready to share the secrets of how she has handled her pain with her fans in an album rumoured to be dropping in September 2020. The most we can hope for is some new anthems!
